Stedelijk Museum - Contemporary and Modern Art

For anyone interested in contemporary and modern art, a visit of the Stedelijk Museum is definitely worth it. It is the fourth most-visited Museum in Amsterdam. On two floors, different exhibits show about 90,000 contemporary art works from the early 20th century until now. Van Gogh, Monet, Chagall, Picasso, and Kandinsky are a few of the artists whose works are exhibited there.

The Stedelijk Museum contains paintings, photographs, sculptures, posters, furniture, and industrial- graphic- and amazing 3D printer designs.  There is a huge permanent exhibition area and temporary exhibits.

Stedelijk Museum - Versatility

The Stedelijk Museum is extremely versatile. Every room is different, so you get from an exhibition of current chair designs and even a fully furnished apartment, via a room full of Monet paintings from the last century, through to a dark chamber where you can watch a video about African fabric.  Even the architecture of the building itself is breathtaking.

And after your visit you can hang out and rest in the nice cafe, look around the Museum Shop, or you can easily continue your Museum tour and visit the Van Gogh Museum, right next to the Stedelijk Museum, or the Rijksmuseum on the other side of Museumplein. You can also go for a walk in Vondelpark, which is reachable within five minutes.
