Zaanse Schans - A Must See

This museum takes you back to the 18th and 19th century in Holland, and it’s an easy day trip from Amsterdam. The area around Zaanse Schans used to be the oldest industrial region, and it was turned into a museum in 1994. It shows a collection of historical windmills, which are still running.

As a visitor you will be able to walk around this open-air museum and experience typical dutch wooden windmills, barns, houses, and museums. You will witness traditional cheese making, clog production, and the traditional process of grinding. Furthermore, you can take a boat tour there, eat in traditional restaurants and buy some souvenirs in the little shops.

Zaanse Schans is one of the most visited places in the Netherlands, and it’s just outside of Amsterdam. It is located in a beautiful landscape - where you can easily spend your day wandering and looking around.
